The Ark Blake Academy Uniform Policy aims to ensure that the way uniform is worn:

  • Reflects the ethos and values of the school
  • Prepare our students for success in professional life or further study
  • Enables our students to take pride in themselves and in their school
  • Contributes to excellent behaviour and a well-ordered learning environment in school
  • Enables the local community to recognise and make positive judgements about our students
  • Ensure that the school uniform is affordable and that it provides good value for parents

Uniform requirements

Blazer

Black with gold/mustard trim and embroidered school badge.

Trousers

Black school trouser with pleated front.

Skirt

Black pleated front skirt. Must be worn knee-length, with black tights.

Shirt

Plain white collar. Long or short sleeved and tucked in at all times, with the top button done up.

Tie

Ark Blake branded, worn at an appropriate length down to the navel. The school will buy this for each student and present it on admission.

Jumper

Grey knitted V-neck with school logo and trim around the collar.

Plain black shoes

No trainers or boots. Laces must be black.

Plain black tights

To be worn with school skirt.

Socks

Black or dark grey. To be worn with school trousers. Must cover ankle.

Jacket

Navy blue, dark grey or black. No branding or pictures. All jackets must be zipped - no hooded jackets that have to be removed over the head to be permitted. 

School rucksack

Black rucksack with school logo.

Umbrella

Black.

Plain hijab

In school colours: black or dark grey. Pins: dark grey or black.

Wrist watch

Not a 'smart' watch.

Hair accessories

Dark grey or black only. No bows or ornate clips. Only narrow, plain hair bands.

Jewellery

No jewellery may be worn, with the exception of a small plain silver or gold stud in the centre of each lower ear lobe.

Belts

Unbranded black leather/leather look only with a small plain buckle.

PE Kit:

Tracksuit top

Ark Blake branded black top with gold yellow detail.

Sports t-shirt

Black Ark Blake branded t-shirt with yellow/gold detail.

Shorts

Plain black PE shorts.

Tracksuit bottoms

Plain black tracksuit bottoms. No logos.

Football socks

Black, knee length.

Trainers

Must be appropriate for sports. No converse trainers.

PE Bag

Black PE bag with school logo.

 

Lost property

We ask that all clothing is named, including shoes, so that lost items can be returned to their owner. The school cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage of pupils’ property and valuables. All mislaid items are placed in the lost property box located in the school office. Please ask the school office if you wish to look through this box. We endeavour to return all named property, but give unclaimed lost property to a local children’s charity at the end of term.

Purchasing school uniform

Our uniform supplier is Khalsa Schoolwear. Uniform will be available all year round at: www.khalsaschoolwear.co.uk

Second-hand items

Any unwanted items of uniform may be given to the Academy Office. We host regular second-hand uniform sales where good quality items can be picked up for low cost.

Equipment

Students will be required to bring the following equipment with them daily.

1 x ABA Chromebook needed on a teacher's request

1 x Clear water bottle

1 x Year group lanyard, with Independance card

1 x Reading Book

1 x pencil case to include:

  • 1 x Blake pen (inc black, blue, green and red) 
  • 2 x highlighter pens,
  • 2 x sharpened pencils,
  • 1 x rubber,
  • 1 x 12-inch ruler,
  • 1 x calculator,
  • 1 x glue stick
  • (no white eraser fluid)
