Ms Kuratomi, MFL Teacher and Malaga Trip Leader has described the trip to Malaga as an “enriching and vibrant experience” for all involved. Our students embraced every moment with enthusiasm and curiosity, making the most of each opportunity to immerse themselves in Spanish culture and language.
The 4 day trip was jampacked and exposed our students to Spanish culture. Some of the highlights were:
- 🎶 A Flamenco Show: A captivating performance that not only showcased the passion of traditional Spanish dance and music but also gave students the chance to participate in drumming and dancing themselves. Some of the students said that their highlight of the trip was seeing Mr Champion dancing Flamenco - this of course, did not overshadow the excellent Flamenco performance from Anais!
- 🗣️ Spanish Language Lessons: Students completed interactive sessions which helped sharpen their language skills in a fun and engaging environment. After one of the sessions, students were lucky enough to play football and volleyball by the beach in a perfect 26° Celcius, with clear skies and sunshine.
- 🗺️ A Cultural Treasure Hunt: A dynamic activity that encouraged our students to explore their surroundings while practising their Spanish with locals. Students had to ask questions about local food, ingredients and more.
- 🏞️ A Visit to One of Europe’s Oldest Caves: A fascinating journey into the depths of history, where students marvelled at ancient formations and learned about the region’s prehistoric past.
- 🏫 School Visit: Our students visited a local Spanish secondary school, where students engaged in bilingual exchanges, practising both Spanish and English with their peers.
- 🚌 Trip to Nerja: A scenic coach ride to the beautiful coastal town of Nerja, known for its stunning views and charming streets called ‘The balcony of Europe’. For most students, having the opportunity to walk around the town with their friends and buy souvenirs was something they really enjoyed.
- Trip to Frigiliana: A beautiful Andalucian village located in a mountain where artists come to live and spark inspiration for their creativity.
- On the final day students visited the ‘Mercado Central Atarazanas’ where they embraced their adventurous side trying a variety of foods, including cactus flower, octopus and olives. Afterwards, the group headed to the ‘Alcazaba fortress’ an Arab-built fortress located in the city centre, followed by a visit to a nearby Roman theatre. The day ended with a lovely tapas meal at ‘Picasso Tapas’, a restaurant named after Picasso and located near his birthplace.
We are incredibly proud of how well our students engaged with the experience and embraced every opportunity to use the language.
