A group of our Year 11 students recently had the remarkable opportunity to visit the University of Oxford, immersing themselves in a day of academic enrichment and firsthand experience of university life. Staff were profoundly impressed by the students' enthusiasm and active participation as they delved into subjects aligned with their GCSE curriculum - such as Art, Geography, History and 3D design - and explored new disciplines including Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), broadening their intellectual horizons.
The visit included tours of the historic colleges, the renowned debating chambers and the esteemed library of the Oxford Union. Students were captivated by the breathtaking views from the buildings of Jesus College and engaged in thought-provoking lectures designed to enhance critical thinking skills. A highlight of the day was the Q&A session with Oxford student ambassadors, offering valuable insights into university life, including discussions on workload management and career prospects.
Overall, the trip was an inspiring experience that left our students excited about their future academic possibilities.
